- Social media influencer and Self-acclaimed activist, Martins Ortse known as VeryDarKMan has responded to a viral video of a woman assaulted by FAAN officials
- The woman had called on VeryDarkMan and other blogs to help intervene in the alleged assault by FAAN officials
- VeryDarkMan called on the attention of the Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo to investigate the assault incident by FAAN officials
Popular social media influencer Martins Ortse, famously known as VeryDarKMan, has finally responded to the call of a woman allegedly assaulted by Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) officials.
The viral video captured the yet-to-be-identified woman calling out for help over the unfair extortion and physical assault experienced from FAAN officials.
In a long video shared on his official Instagram page on Tuesday, October 8, VeryDarkMan addressed the video and called on the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo to investigate the incident.
“First of all, I did not receive any N1 million to post this video because for that video, she say she go pay N1 million so that the video go go to blogs. Anyways, my video is to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria(FAAN).
One thing that I know is that the people that charge you for extra luggage are the airline that you are using to travel. Let's say you're using United Africa or you're using AirPeace, they will charge you for extra luggage depending on the kilograms.”
VeryDarkMan noted that he was not aware that paying N5,000 for extra bags is now the responsibility of passengers in the airport.
He also urged the Minister of Aviation to consider the salaries of airport officials to curb similar incidents in the future.
“I did not know that you people are charging N5,000 for bags that are coming out of the airport. Maybe it is a new development. I don't know and I don't even believe it because it makes no sense to me. If at all, they implemented the N5,000 per bag, they should give a reason why it was done because those airlines are paying you and we are all paying tax when we are booking the airlines. Festus Keyamo, you people should raise the bar of people working in FAAN.
Almost all of them are beggars who pay these people well. There are some jobs that should be earning 150,000 to 200,000. Police, Teachers, Armies, Security agencies and more. So that when you catch them, the penalty will be very harsh. Most of them depend on tips and that’s why they beg. Almost all of them at the airport are beggars. However, we need clarifications to know if truly you are now charging N5,000 per bag. Thank you very much.” he added.
What the unidentified woman alleged in her video
VeryDarkMan’s response is a spill off the video shared by a Nigerian woman alleging extortion from FAAN officials.
The woman whose face was not identified but her voice was heard screaming in the video saying, “You are beating us in the airport. We are passengers. Pay money for what? Instablog, Gistlover, and VeryDarkMan look at what they are doing to us at Muritala Muhammed airport.
Extorting money from us. We are not paying one naira. We booked our flights. I'll pay N1 Million to share this video. We booked our flights. We are not cargo. N5,000 per bags, look at them.” She said.
