- Popular crossdresser Bobrisky was reportedly arrested by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) while trying to escape Nigeria at Seme Border
- The news which was disclosed by social media activist VeryDarkMan remained unverified with several speculations
- In an official statement, the NIS has confirmed the crossdresser’s arrest and details surrounding it
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed the arrest of popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, during an attempt to escape the country to the Benin Republic.
Bobrisky’s arrest was first disclosed by social media activist, Martins Ortse, popularly known as VeryDarKMan, who raised the alarm, calling on the NIS to confirm the incident.
In an official statement released and signed on Monday, October 21, by the NIS Public Relations Officer, KT Udo, Bobrisky’s arrest was eventually confirmed.
The NIS stated that the crossdresser was arrested because he is a person of interest, especially over recent issues of public concern.
“In Keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) intercepted Okuneye Idris Olarenwaju otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an attempt to exit the country.
The service wishes to inform the public that Okuneye Idris is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern. He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.” the statement read in part.
Meanwhile, Bobrisky is yet to respond to either the NIS arrest confirmation nor VeryDarkMan’s call to refute the news of his arrest. This revelation also follows VeryDarKMan’s allegations that the crossdresser’s attempt was to avoid the current investigation by the House of Reps.
