Controversial self-acclaimed relationship expert, Blessing CEO, has reacted emotionally to the reported death of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, who reportedly died after battling stage 4 liver cancer.
According to reports gathered by TheRadar, the actor passed away in a Lagos hospital on Monday following complications linked to the illness. News of his death sent shockwaves across the Nigerian entertainment industry, with fans, colleagues and public figures expressing grief over the tragic development.
Reacting via her Instagram page, Blessing CEO shared a photograph of the late actor alongside a short but emotional message condemning cancer and mourning his passing.
“God will punish cancer. We waited for u to show up. You fought silently. Rest in peace,” she wrote.
Her reaction appeared to reference her own controversial health claims earlier this year. In March 2026, Blessing CEO publicly appealed for financial assistance from supporters, claiming she was undergoing chemotherapy treatment for stage 4 breast cancer.
The claim, however, generated widespread controversy after the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Delta State chapter, questioned the authenticity of a medical report she shared online as evidence of her condition.
According to the association, the report allegedly belonged to another patient from Xinus Medical Diagnostics and had reportedly been altered before it was circulated online. The document was said to have been signed by consultant pathologist Dr O.A. Odigwe.
The controversy sparked heated debate across social media, with many Nigerians demanding accountability and clarification over the authenticity of the cancer claims. Popular social media influencer VeryDarkMan subsequently submitted a petition seeking an investigation into the matter. Reports indicated that the petition received approval from the Inspector-General of Police for further inquiry.
Meanwhile, tributes have continued to pour in for Alex Ekubo, whose contribution to Nollywood earned him admiration from fans both within and outside Nigeria. Many colleagues described him as talented, humble and dedicated to his craft.
As conversations surrounding cancer awareness and healthcare continue online, the actor’s reported death has once again highlighted the devastating impact of terminal illnesses and the emotional toll they take on families, friends and the wider entertainment community.
