Oftentimes, we see a lot of films and through keen observations, we notice certain similarities and wonder why the movie posters look almost the same.
Transcending time and locations, some Nollywood film posters bear a resemblance to foreign films posters. Why do some share the same genres, some share a similar ideation process that makes them appear the same.
Movie posters in its simplest terms are graphical illustrations of a film, which should convince the audience to see the film in a cinema.
Battle on Buka Street was released in 2023 by popular actress and producer Funke Akindele. The film follows the story of two rival sisters at loggerheads trying to navigate a family age-long war that exists between them. The film poster reflected the storyline as apt as it could.
With the two rival sisters played by Mercy Johnson and Funke Akindele facing each other, their mothers and husbands doing sane, one can deduce the family war between them.
Similarly, in the Marvel popular film Captain America released in 2016, a similar arrangement was done for characters to depict the tension and war ambience of the film.
For the recently released Nollywood title, ‘Japa’, it also captured the escape motion of characters similar to the classic American animation, ‘Shrek’ in 2001. Whether or not it is a coincidence, it leaves you awed by the striking resemblance in the film posters.
