Popular Nigerian Afrobeats singer Chukwuka Ekweani, known as Ckay has set the records straight, clarifying that he wrote all his songs.
The ‘Love Nwantiti’ crooner insinuated with his recent post that some artistes and producers he didn't mention claim they wrote part of his songs.
Via his official X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, September 18, Ckay reiterated his pen game and insisted that no artiste or producer wrote his songs.
“Every Ckay song out there was written by Ckay. I also produced/co-produced a good number (except DTF written by Talksick). Any artist or producer who claims they wrote my song is a LIAR, “ he stated.
In another post, he hailed himself for pioneering different blends of Afrobeats that Nigerian singers use today even though they don't admit it.
“Ckay is the first. I pioneered many vibes afrobeat artists thrive off today...iykyk. y'all laughed when i came up with emo afrobeat and was on TikTok all day but many are now doing the same thing, calling it ridiculous names (& making $$). you're welcome sha,” the singer added.
Netizens have taken to his comments section to understand the reason for his recent posts and who the singer was referring to. For many, the statements were confusing because there is currently no claim that accused Ckay of not writing his songs.
Ckay, who is signed to Boyfriend Music, Warner Music Africa and Atlantic Records, is known for his international hit single ‘Love Nwantiti' in 2019. Ckay is also known to describe his sound as Emo-Afrobeats, a blend of emotional and romantic lyricism.
