- VeryDarkMan has responded to the court order for his arrest over alleged defamation of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo
- He insisted that the judiciary cannot silence him, vowing to expose those behind the plot to shut him down
- Still determined, he announced his return to Nigeria soon, stating that despite the court's plan for his arrest, the truth will remain the truth
Controversial social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has responded to the court-ordered bench warrant issued on Thursday, March 13, over alleged defamation of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo. The order was issued by a Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja.
In a video posted on his official Instagram page on Friday, March 14, VeryDarkMan, currently in China, insisted that the judiciary cannot silence him.
He alleged that a plot within the legal system was working against him and vowed to expose those behind it.
“First things first, the judiciary cannot shut me down. There has been a plot for the judiciary system to shut me down, but I will resist it and expose all that are funding these, with their illegal orders.”
He questioned the legal proceedings, and the Magistrate’s ordering of his arrest despite his lawyer informing the court of his absence from the country.
“How can a lawyer have six cases in front of one Magistrate? In one day, and on the same day, the judge ordered my arrest.
“Meanwhile, my lawyer told him that I was not in Nigeria, testifying of my always presence for other cases that I never missed a day. As a matter of fact, I was in China when the case was filed, and now you are ordering my arrest.”
“The same day the Magistrate Court in Wuse ordered my arrest, another High Court in Nyanya issued an injunction that I should not talk about the Mercy Chinwo and EeZee Tee case.
“Meanwhile, the Magistrate Court in Wuse also did the same. The affidavit was scanty, and no reasonable person would do that. The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) put a stop to Ex Parte; why is the Magistrate from? Is Nyanya doing it? The judiciary cannot shut me down.”
He accused the judiciary of bias and questioned why the case was moved to Ilorin instead of being handled where it originated.
“If I come to Nigeria now and they handcuff me, the truth still stands. It might seem they won but they didn't, because why would you take a case in Lagos to Ilorin?”
Still standing by his initial claims, that there is abuse of power somewhere, VeryDarkMan questioned, “Did you take the case to where you had the upper hand, yes or no?
“Meanwhile, I did not know about the case before; she brought the case online for online sympathy, and I saw the loopholes. You Mercy, you are a liar. The truth is the truth.”
He recounted his initial conclusion on the contractual dispute between Mercy Chinwo and Eezee Tee, stating that the officials in charge of the case were in a way linked to the gospel singer.
“To the Magistrate, with all due respect, I wasn't in Nigeria, you should have given me grace for not coming. And for the lawyer, only you have six cases.
I will write a letter, I'll come back to Nigeria, I won't leave Nigeria for anyone,” he concluded.
VeryDarkMan's response has sparked mixed reactions online as he remains determined to challenge the court order.
