The West African Examination Council (WAEC) announced that the marking exercise for the recently concluded 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates has been completed.
According to WAEC, the results will be released 45 days after the last paper is submitted. However, before the results were released, WAEC admonished the candidates to stay abreast of relevant information, which will be updated on the WaecKonnect mobile app from time to time.
In the post that the exam body made on its ‘X’ official account on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, it wrote: “The Coordination and Marking exercise for WASSCE for School Candidates 2024 has come to an end. Note that results of candidates will be released 45 days after the last paper.
“For more information, download the WaecKonnect mobile app to stay abreast of happenings in the Council,” it stated.
The 45-day window suggests that results will be released on August 8, 2024.
WAEC debunks release of results
Meanwhile, WAEC debunked the rumour that the results would be released on August 5, 2024, tagging the supposed date “Unofficial.”
Moyosola Adesina, WAEC Communication Officer, urged the candidates and parents to await the official release from the examination body.
In his words: “That date they are putting there has not been verified or confirmed by WAEC. The report didn’t come from us. The person speculated so it’s neither here nor there. It could be before then or after then but definitely might not be on that date.
“Results are usually released on or before 45 days after the conduct of the last paper.”
The council then assured the public that efforts are being made to ensure the results are made available promptly and accurately.
How to check your 2024 WAEC results

- Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number. (This is your 7-digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number e.g. 4123456789). For examination year < 1999, enter your 8-digit WAEC Examination Number. (This is your 5-digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number e.g. 19865001)
- Enter the 4 digits of your Examination Year e.g. 2002
- Select the Type of Examination, whether private candidates or school candidates
- Enter the e-PIN Voucher Number
- Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your e-PIN
- Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up
