The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially launched its Digital Certificate Services System, called WAEC DigiCert, across all five member countries; Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.

The announcement was made in a statement on Monday, February 16, signed by Demianus Ojijeogu, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC Headquarters in Accra, Ghana, on behalf of the Registrar.

The council described the platform as “a mobile and Web-based application that provides enormous benefits to the various stakeholders,” adding that it offers “simple features that enable users to access, request, confirm or share digital forms of the original certificates.”

The Council also noted that candidates can recover lost WAEC examination numbers using the system. It further assured that “the system is reliable, the authenticity of the certificates is guaranteed, and the cost benefits to users cannot be overstated.”

Following a successful pilot in Nigeria, WAEC DigiCert “received positive feedback from candidates and educational institutions worldwide.”

The Council encouraged the public to adopt the platform, urging stakeholders “to use WAEC DigiCert to avoid administrative challenges and bottlenecks associated with manual certificate issuance and collection.”

WAEC emphasised that “the usual printing and issuance of certificates will not be affected by this innovation.”

The mobile application is available for download on the App Store and Play Store for iOS and Android devices, with additional information accessible via WAEC’s official website and social media platforms.

In a related update, the Council also announced the release of the 2025 Second Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination results for private candidates.

Candidates can check their results at www.waecdirect.org before proceeding to the digital certificate platform at www.waec.org to access their released digital certificate copies.
