The United States President, Donald Trump, has revealed that the United States and Iran have largely reached an agreement following negotiations involving several Middle Eastern countries, although the deal is still awaiting final approval.
In a post shared on Truth Social on Saturday, May 23, Trump said discussions between Washington, Tehran, and other regional stakeholders had made significant progress.
“An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalisation between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries,” Trump wrote.
The president also stated that one of the key aspects of the proposed agreement would involve reopening the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes.
“In addition to many other elements of the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened,” he added.
While Trump did not disclose further details about the terms of the arrangement or the countries involved in the negotiations, the statement signals ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East.
The Strait of Hormuz remains strategically important for global energy supplies, with a significant portion of the world’s oil exports passing through the narrow waterway.
