- Donald Trump confirmed he will miss Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding in the Bahamas
- Trump cited “circumstances pertaining to Government” for staying in Washington
- The White House cancelled Trump’s planned trip to New Jersey as Iran-related diplomatic talks are reportedly entering a critical phase
The United States President, Donald Trump, has confirmed that he will not attend the wedding of his son, Donald Trump Jr., as diplomatic tensions surrounding Iran continue to dominate Washington.
The wedding between Donald Trump Jr. and socialite Bettina Anderson is scheduled to take place in the Bahamas this weekend.
However, Trump said national matters required his presence at the White House.
In a post shared on Truth Social on Friday, May 22, Trump explained that although he wished to attend the ceremony, ongoing government responsibilities made it impossible.
“While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so,” Trump wrote.
The US president added, “I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time. Congratulations to Don and Bettina!”
The White House later revised Trump’s weekend itinerary, announcing that he would no longer travel to his golf resort in New Jersey and would instead remain in the nation’s capital.
Although Trump did not directly explain the urgency behind his decision, it comes amid intensified diplomatic efforts linked to the Middle East conflict and ongoing discussions involving Iran.
Reports indicate that Tehran is reviewing a fresh proposal from the United States, while Pakistan’s military leadership has also travelled to Iran as part of mediation efforts.
At the same time, tensions between Washington and Cuba appear to be escalating.
The United States recently increased pressure on the communist-led island after former Cuban president Raul Castro was reportedly indicted.
Meanwhile, the US military has deployed an aircraft carrier and accompanying warships to the Caribbean, adding to growing international attention on the region.
Trump sparks outrage after resharing ‘Strait of Trump’ map for Strait of Hormuz
Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that the United States President Donald Trump had triggered fresh controversy after resharing a Truth Social post proposing that the Strait of Hormuz be renamed the “Strait of Trump,” a move widely seen as provocative amid mounting geopolitical tensions.
The post featured a map of the strategically critical waterway relabeled with the suggested name, drawing swift global attention because of the Strait’s central role in global energy security.
