- Jason Derulo admitted he never expected to be single at 37
- He said witnessing breakups changed his perspective on marriage
- The singer reflected on past relationships, including splits with Jordin Sparks and Jena Frumes
American singer Jason Derulo has opened up about his personal life, revealing that he once expected to be married at a younger age but now finds himself single at 37.
The ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home’ hitmaker made the candid remarks during an interview with Graham Bensinger, where he spoke about how his experiences over the years have reshaped his outlook on relationships and marriage.
Derulo admitted that earlier in life, he had envisioned settling down much sooner. However, his perspective shifted after witnessing numerous relationship breakdowns and challenging moments involving couples.
“I thought I was going to marry a lot of the girls I dated. Never in a million years did I think that I would be 37 and single,” he said.
The singer explained that his exposure to various situations—including instances of married couples separating abruptly—has made him more cautious about commitment.
“I have seen too much in my life… married women leaving their spouses on the spot, leaving their men in the club. I have seen everything under the sun,” he added.
Derulo’s romantic history has been in the public eye over the years. He was previously in a high-profile relationship with fellow singer Jordin Sparks, with whom he dated for three years before their split in September 2014.
In 2021, the singer welcomed a son with his then-girlfriend Jena Frumes. However, the couple separated just five months after the birth of their child, marking another chapter in his complex relationship journey.
Despite his current single status, Derulo did not rule out the possibility of marriage in the future. Instead, his remarks suggest a more measured and cautious approach, shaped by both personal experiences and observations of others.
The singer’s reflections highlight a broader conversation about modern relationships, commitment, and the evolving expectations surrounding marriage, particularly among public figures navigating life in the spotlight.
