  • Many youths and activists are not having it because of the ongoing nationwide protest
  • They opined that Pastor Adeboye could have redirected the crowd to join the #Endbadgovernance protest

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is trending, and unfortunately, it is for the wrong reasons following its annual prayer walk.

Many netizens supposedly criticised its decision to organise its prayer walk with a crowd that could have joined the ongoing nationwide protest to lend their voices.

In an X (formerly Twitter) post on August 4, a user identified as Darey @kunmydrey shared his thoughts about the church’s annual prayer walk.

He wrote, “RCCG annual prayer walk 2024.After walking, go back home and open your mouth down to manna from heaven. Bunch of gullible and lazy christians. Disturbing God with their useless prayers while their Daddy GOs live large on tithes and gifts from APC. Brainwashed Morons. #TinubuMustGoNow.”

The post, which has garnered over 500,000 views and 900 comments sparked an online frenzy on X platform with many mixed reactions from Nigerians.

Meanwhile, the prayer walk is an annual event of the RCCG as part of the annual August Minister's Conference.

@rexididia said, “I have agreed with almost 50% of your post, but for calling out Daddy GO in this manner I disagree with you. The only thing that has kept Nigeria for decades till date, it's the prayer of the Saint and not the Politicians. Be guided.”

@CroBender said, “A country cursed with religion.”

@Mykoladoo wrote, “A deliberate move to sabotage the protest.

@seun_adebayo1 asked, “A convention that has been existing probably before you're born?”

@oluwatobil74181 said, “May God show you mercy , I pray you don't make way for things you don't want in your life just by talking any how bcos you can.”

@NemeremNjoku said, “This is actually affecting other people’s freedom of movement, how can you bring out such a crowd to a place where there’s not enough main or alternative roads.”

@iam_java said, “There is freedom of religion in this country the last time I checked! No one ever criticizes people for going to Hajj but the disrespect on Christianity on X is alarming! Allow people to do what works for them!”

@AkposJim wrote, “Na their foolishness their pastor take dey destroy! them.”

@cevizor said, “Raise your volume. People at the back can’t hear you well.”

@preachermafioso commented, “99.9% of Nigerian Christians clearly gave their lives to religion not Christ. There is a stark difference between ‘Christians Vs Nigerian Christians’, take it to the bank!”

#EndBadGovernance: Samklef commends Igbos for shunning protest, netizens react

Earlier, TheRadar reported that music producer Samuel Oguachuba, popularly known as Samklef, came under fire for commending the Igbos who shunned the nationwide protest.

Samklef’s backlash comes after netizens called out Burna Boy for not joining the ongoing protest against bad governance.
