Music producer Samuel Oguachuba, popularly known as Samklef, has come under fire for commending the Igbos who shunned the nationwide protest. 

Samklef’s backlash comes after netizens called out Burna Boy for not joining the ongoing protest against bad governance. 

Via his official X (formerly Twitter) on August 1, the music producer shared his thoughts on the #endbadgovernance protest in support of Igbos who didn't join. 

He wrote, God bless my Igbo people for shunning the protest let the tribes in power carry their cross.

Netizens who weren't having it stormed his comment section to air their opinions, mostly suggesting that his comment was tribalistic and uncalled for because of its sensitivity to spur a tribal clash.

Meanwhile, prior to that, Samklef also tweeted a comment in defense of Burna Boy’s stance on not supporting the protest. 

He noted that Burna Boy spoke up during the EndSars protest yet Nigerians didn't appreciate his efforts. He said, But when burna boy Dey talk na this same Nigerians cancel am. Wetin dem want make him do? Plenty talk Dey full basket these days especially for Nigeria. love and light. 

The ongoing protest started on August 1 has seen thousands of Nigerians on the streets in a nationwide demonstration over the high level of hardship and hunger in the country. 

Netizens' reactions to Samklef’s comments on social media

TheRadar gathered some comments from Samklef’s post on social media. The comments varied but mostly those suggesting his comments will instigate a tribal clash. See below:

@GeneralSnow said, “Wisdom has been running towards you for almost 40 years, but you have been running faster.”

Earlier, TheRadar reported that Nigerian Afrobeats singer Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy was called out by fans for not lending his voice to the ongoing #EndBadGovernanace protest in the country. 

Burna Boy in a video cleared the air following criticisms suggesting that he was hypocritical with the activism messages in his songs.
