Protesters across the nation have continued their demonstrations to demand an end to the persistent inflation in the country and poor governance, while also calling for the reinstatement of fuel subsidies and other reforms.

#EndBadGovernance protests continued despite Tinubu’s plea

Despite President Tinubu’s plea for the suspension of the nationwide protests, undeterred protesters have maintained their #EndBadGovernance nationwide protests into its fifth day in major cities throughout Nigeria.

Federal Secretariat Complex remained largely empty

Russian flags were prominently displayed by protesters near the Nyanya bridge in Abuja’s suburb on Monday, August 5.

Also, the Federal Capital Territory experienced a rise in vehicular activity on the fifth day of the nationwide protests, signalling a gradual shift back to normal conditions

Despite this, the Federal Secretariat Complex remained largely empty, with only a few staff members showing up for work.

Abuja residents are struggling to cope 

The protests have caused substantial disruptions to the everyday lives of Abuja residents, with many grappling to cope with the changes.

Petty traders who rely on government staff for patronage continued to experience slow business.

Tinubu assured protesters that their concerns  had been heard

Recall that Tinubu addressed the nation on Sunday, August 4, requesting that citizens suspend the public protests and assuring them that their concerns had been heard and understood.

Protesters are determined to continue until their demands are granted

Despite this, the government has not yet adequately addressed the protesters' demands, and the protesters are determined to continue with their actions until their demands are granted, leaving the situation dynamic with new developments emerging hourly.

President’s address on protests was faulted by majority

The President’s address was widely criticised by ex-vice President Atiku Abubakar, Femi Falana, Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), amongst others for falling short of expectations.

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that Nyesom Wike announced that security agencies have nailed a senator responsible for sponsoring protests in the nation's capital.

According to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the unnamed senator gave protesters food.
