The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has officially launched its 2026 recruitment drive, opening applications for over 30 job positions across its institutions in Nigeria and other member states.

In a notice published on its official website on Thursday, April 2, the regional bloc said the recruitment exercise is part of efforts to strengthen the implementation of its sectoral programmes across key institutions within the region.

The organisation called on qualified citizens of its member countries to submit applications through its careers portal.

According to the announcement, several positions are available in Nigeria, particularly in Abuja. These include Office Aide, Programme Assistant, Nurse, Protocol Assistant, Documentation and Archives Assistant, Office Manager (Bilingual Secretary), Junior Accountant (Disbursements), Accountant roles, Legal Officers, Political Advisor, Principal Officer positions, Registrar roles, Head of Division (Library and Documentation), and Head of Hansard.

Beyond Nigeria, ECOWAS is also recruiting for roles across other African cities. These include Administrative and Finance Officer positions in Addis Ababa, PPO (Sports Policy) roles in Liberia, Principal Programme Officer (Water Supply and Sanitation) positions in Conakry, as well as additional legal and administrative openings in Dakar.

ECOWAS explained that applicants must meet specific age requirements depending on the category of the role.

“35 years of age for General Services or Support positions (G1 to G7), 45 years of age for Professional category (P1 to P7), and 50 years of age for Director positions (D1-D2),” it said.

The organisation also encouraged female candidates to apply, noting that only shortlisted applicants would be contacted.

Applicants are required to download and complete the official application form, attach a curriculum vitae and a motivation letter, and submit all documents via designated email addresses before the deadline.

“All applications must include the application form, CV and a cover letter. Applications that do not contain all mandatory documents will not be considered,” the notice stated.

The application window closes on April 30, 2026.

ECOWAS further stressed that the recruitment process is completely free of charge, warning applicants to be wary of fraudulent individuals requesting payment or sensitive financial information.
