- Nedu Wazobia has served VeryDarkMan a pre-action notice for alleged defamatory statements regarding the NGO scholarship scandal
- The on-air personality's lawyers demanded a retraction, an apology, and N500 million in damages from VeryDarkMan
- This comes after VeryDarkMan accused Nedu of diverting NGO scholarship funds meant for Nigerians, sparking intense debate on social media
The podcast controversy surrounding social media critic VeryDarkMan and on-air personality Nedu Wazobia has taken a significant twist. Nedu Wazobia has served VeryDarkMan with a pre-action notice, citing alleged defamatory statements published on his social media page.
The controversy stems from a 12-minute video shared by VeryDarkMan on his YouTube and Instagram pages, titled "How Nedu Diverted NGO Scholarship Meant for Nigerians.
According to Nedu's lawyers in the legal pre-notice to VeryDarkMan on Tuesday, February 25, the video contains "a host of defamatory, false, and disparaging attacks and rhetoric" against their client. They have described the video as false and emphasised that Nedu is not the owner of Tokindrumz, but rather a talent under the brand.
Nedu's lawyers highlighted several issues, including false fraud accusations based on VeryDarkMan's claims that Nedu defrauded people and involved celebrities like Timaya and Kcee in the scheme.
They also addressed the misrepresentation of Nedu’s connection with the Metropolitan School of Business and Management UK, refuting VeryDarkMan’s implication that Nedu begged or requested to meet the school’s owner. According to Nedu's legal team, the meeting was arranged through a mutual friend, among other concerns.
In response to the alleged defamation, Nedu's lawyers have demanded that VeryDarkMan retract every video involving Nedu on all his platforms within 24 hours of receiving the notice.
They have also requested a public apology and payment of N500 million for the damage caused to Nedu's reputation. Failure to comply with these demands will result in legal action.
As stated in the pre-action notice: "We demand that you retract every video involving Nedu on all of your platforms within 24 hours of receiving this notice, issue a public apology, and pay the sum of N500,000,000.00 (Five Hundred Million Naira) for the damage caused to Nedu's reputation."
VeryDarkMan has acknowledged receipt of the notice and has informed his followers to prepare for a court case.
This comes after Nedu denied all allegations of fraud and financial misconduct, reaffirming his commitment to education and philanthropy. He has also announced legal action against false claims aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
