Joseph Aloba, the father of the late musician Mohbad, has stirred up controversy following a recent viral TikTok live video where he addressed his son’s will and vehemently denied any involvement in his death.
During a TikTok live session on Tuesday, February 25, Aloba openly shared his irritation over the accusations levelled against him by Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, suggesting that he played a role in the tragic passing of the young artiste.
Aloba dismissed Wunmi's accusations as unfounded and misleading, emphasising that he had never encountered the nurse who administered injections to his son.
However, it was Aloba's comments regarding Mohbad's property distribution that drew the most significant backlash. He expressed his disappointment that his son had registered two plots of land in the name of his grandson, Liam, rather than himself.
Aloba said, “When he came back from the tour, he told me that he bought another two plots of land in Elepe but it is written in Liam’s name. I don’t know the reason. I am the father to Mohbad. I’ve never bought anything in his name, so why will he buy something in Liam’s name but they bought that two plots of land in Liam’s name.”
He stated that since he had never acquired anything in Mohbad's name, it baffles him why Mohbad would make such a decision.
He disclosed that Wunmi's mother was responsible for managing the other properties owned by Mohbad, which include two acres of land in Agbowa and two plots of land in Elepe. He added, “It was Wunmi’s mother who knew where Mohbad’s properties were. She is a police officer. I’m just a carpenter.”
Addressing the circumstances surrounding Mohbad's final medical treatment, Aloba asserted that he had never met the nurse who administered injections to his son.
“I’ve never set my eyes on the nurse for my life. If I see a nurse, it may be on the Internet. The nurse never had a conversation with me in my life,” he said.
The live broadcast has triggered a wave of reactions on social media, with many users accusing Aloba of exhibiting entitlement and greed in the matter of his son's death. Critics argue that his focus on property disputes at such a sensitive time is inappropriate.
