“I receive death threats every day,” Mohbad's widow, Wunmi, speaks on family feud, DNA test pressure

Wunmi Aloba, the widow of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has opened up about the struggles she has faced since her husband’s tragic passing. 

In an interview with Chude Jideonwo on the WithChude Podcast, posted on his Instagram page @withchude on Wednesday, February 19, Wunmi revealed that she has been living in fear, receiving death threats daily. 

She expressed her sadness over the loss of her husband, stating; "Sometimes I feel like God cheated my husband; he didn't have to die. We no longer feel safe and I get death threats literally every day in my DMs. It has gotten to the point that I either speak up or die in silence."

Family disputes over Mohbad’s estate 

Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, passed away on September 12, 2023, under mysterious circumstances, sparking widespread controversy and disputes over his estate.

Since his death, Wunmi has found herself embroiled in family disputes over her late husband's assets and the paternity of their son, Liam.

In the interview, Wunmi accused her father-in-law of attempting to seize control of Mohbad’s properties while making disparaging remarks about their son. 

"My father-in-law wanted to be in control of my husband's properties and he would literally go all out to destroy my life," she claimed.

She also alleged that her father-in-law, who initially supported her marriage to Mohbad, had now turned against her, casting doubts on their son Liam’s paternity.

She said. "A grandfather being mean to his grandchild. In fact, he was saying that my son has a bow leg, and they don't have such in their family. He says that Liam's face is older than his. He even went as far as saying that Mohbad wanted to throw our son into the lagoon under the third mainland bridge."

Wunmi speaks on paternity controversy and DNA debate

The issue of Liam’s paternity has remained a source of tension, with Miohbad’s father demanding a DNA test. 

Wunmi maintained that she has always been open to the test but raised concerns over the condition of confidentiality set by her father-in-law.  

"I made it known that I have been ready for the DNA, but they said once the test is done, I should not tell the public the result of the DNA.” She said.

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that recently, Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi accused Mohbad’s younger brother of demanding money from him. The actor claimed the money was demanded in exchange for a video evidence on what caused Mohabd’s death.
