Veteran Nollywood actor and Secretary of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Mudashiru Olabiyi, popularly known as Bobo B, is dead.
The legendary actor was reportedly confirmed dead following a battle with a brief illness at University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Prior to his death, Olabiyi served as the former Governor of TAMPAN in Oyo State and was the association’s National Secretary in the Nigerian film industry.
Via an Instagram post on Tuesday, October 16, Olabiyi’s colleague, Bolaji Amusan, announced the passing of the veteran actor, seeking prayers for the family.
Amusan recognised Olabiyi's impact as TAMPAN’s National secretary and how the actor would be greatly missed in the creative community.
“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of our esteemed National Secretary, Alhaji Mudashiru Olabiyi, who departed from us today, 16th of October, 2024. This is a tremendous loss not only to our association but also to the entire creative community.
His dedication, leadership and contributions have left an indelible mark on our organisation, and his absence will be deeply felt. During this difficult time, I encourage all to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. Let us come together as a community to offer our support and strength to one another.” he wrote.
Olabiyi’s death has left a significant void in the Nollywood industry, particularly in the Yoruba film community, where he is most active.
Meanwhile, Olabiyi was reportedly scheduled for a movie set in Oyo State in September but couldn't make it because of his health conditions.
