  • AY Makun recently opened up about the lack of support he receives from his male colleagues
  • According to the actor and comedian, the women are most supported because of their feminine features
  • Netizens have criticised him for making the controversial stance because of his newly-released movie

Popular comedian and actor AY Makun has lamented the lack of support he receives from his male colleagues in the film industry.

The 53-year-old actor’s comments follow his recently released movie, The Waiter, which he complained has not received enough support.

Via his official Instagram page, on Monday, December 23, AY addressed the lack of support in the film industry, especially from male colleagues.

One day man go tell man "wetin man do man". We work so hard to stay relevant and take care of our responsibilities. Must we have breasts and yansh to have the support of our fellow men?

“I am still the only man left in the business of filmmaking who is yet to give it all up. The Waiter is a beautiful movie. I will continue to personally push it with my full chest in cinemas nationwide. I am too legit to quit,” he tweeted.

Netizens criticise AY’s lamentations

TheRadar curated some below:

@Beautiranye said, “This is literally the first time I’m hearing about your obviously useless movie… and now that I’ve heard about it- based on your past multiple useless and directionless movies; I’m not inclined to see this one- it will be like the others: useless and directionless. However, why do you feel the need to limit Women’s efforts in hawking their movies to “breast and nyash”. Those two women, even three of them have worked themselves so hard in publicity but you think you think just because you’re AY??”

@itzpetkoff said, “Maybe your movies have lost touch and now going below par,”

@Winifunds wrote, “This tweet reeks of desperation and ignorance, you can promote your movie without Playing the pity card and trying to downplay other people’s efforts, ewwwww. Btw, you can go for BBL just like Bob and maybe then, we will watch your movies,”

@Tintedeyekay wrote, “At least this tweet is funnier than your jokes and movies,”

@yourodogwu said, “AY don vex,”

@UchayOkolee commented, “Reducing the likes of Funke Akindele's success to having "breast and nyash" lmao!! So Funke and Co have the support of your fellow men because of breasts and nyash?”

@OsumareAyomi said, “Femi Adebayo doesn't have breasts, though. And I've not seen Kunle Afolayan's breasts. Or Niyi Akinmolayan's breasts. Or Kayode Kasum's breasts. Maybe the problem has not been properly diagnosed,”

@YeaOreOluwanimi said, “Of talent and integrity, you lack both which makes you a victim,”

@AladeFavour said, “shameless guy. Nobody was complaining when you were trending. You forget to say life na turn by turn, it can't always be you alone. Ko ofo danu,”

@ballow_5 said, “This one wants me to go to cinema to go and be watching Oni Cubana,”

AY Makun delivers anticipated trailer for ‘The Waiter’
