- Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji recently produced his first major biopic film
- The actor, in an interview, recounted his successful journey in the Yoruba industry
- He also noted what a senior colleague who had doubted his potential said to him
Popular actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has opened up about his impressive journey in Nollywood and his marital life.
The actor also spoke about his marital life and how his wife and colleague, Bimpe Adedimeji, has been his greatest support.
This comes shortly after an interview, where he shared secrets about his effortless tears in films and also spoke about his newly released film, Lisabi: A Legend is Born.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, posted on January 12, Lateef recounted a pivotal moment in his career when a senior colleague in the Yoruba movie industry doubted his potential.
According to Lateef, the colleague, who he didn't mention, also predicted that in one year, he would fail woefully in the movie industry.
“Someone once told me in the Yoruba movie industry that he gave me one year to see what I would become. I told him to give me two years and he will see what I will become,” he said.
Marital life and dealing with trolls
During the interview, Lateef acknowledged his wife’s strength in the face of social media trolling and negativity.
He noted that someone on social media still called his wife barren and explained these trolls have never affected their relationship with each other.
“My wife and I have received a lot of trolls. Recently, someone called her barren on social media. She would always show it to me and would say they would be all right,” Lateef said.
On how he proposed to his wife, Lateef shared the casual yet romantic approach he took to eventually tie the knot with her.
First biopic film, ‘Lisabi’
Reflecting on his first major biopic film project, Lisabi, Lateef attributed the success and expressed gratitude to his wife.
He said his wife’s encouragement came during a time when he felt let down by others, and her support made the film a reality.
“When I wanted to do my first big screen job, Lisabi, I realized that everybody that I felt would stand by me was not there; there was nobody,” he noted.
