Every year since 2016, Spotify Wrapped has curated an annual celebration of music lovers, artists, and content creators.
This highly anticipated ritual from the streaming platform always generate considerable excitement and conversation, showcasing the diverse tastes of listeners and the impressive achievements of musicians and creators alike.
However, since 2021, Spotify Wrapped has transformed personal listening habits into fun, shareable insights, capturing the essence of a year in music for artistes and fans.
The recently released 2024 Spotify Wrapped, on Wednesday, December 4, celebrated fans, artists, and creators who made the year the record-breaking, culture-making, fandom-shaking year it was.
For Nigeria data, Afrobeats singer Asake ranked as the most streamed artist for 2024, followed by Seyi Vibez and Burna Boy, who took the second and third spots, respectively.
Following this, TheRadar listed the four artistes who emerged at the top of the Spotify Wrapped annual celebration since 2021.
4 artistes who topped annual Spotify Wrapped Nigeria
- Wizkid —2021
Afrobeats singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizki,d kicked off as the most streamed artiste on Spotify Wrapped in 2021. He was followed by Burna Boy and Davido. This was the first time the streaming platform curated the list for Nigeria.
- Burna Boy — 2022
In 2022, the self-acclaimed African Giant, Burna Boy, took the lead on Spotify Wrapped as the most streamed artiste in Nigeria. His ascent was greatly fueled by his hit Last Last and album, Love, Damini, which were released at the time.
- Asake —2023
Fast-rising Afrobeats sensation, Asake took over the most streamed artiste spot on Spotify Wrapped in 2023. This year, his hits Lonely At The Top, Amapiano and 2:30 took over the airwaves. His emergence dethroned Burna Boy’s stand in the previous year.
- Asake — 2024
For the second time, Asake maintained his spot on Spotify Wrapped as the most streamed artiste in Nigeria. With the release of his third studio work, Lungu Boy and his hit collaborative track MMS, the singer enjoyed the best of 2024 to retain his spot since 2023.

Global Impact List: Ayra Starr, Tems emerge as Spotify’s most streamed artistes
Earlier, TheRadar reported that Nigerian Afrobeats artistes, Tems and Ayra Starr emerged at the top of the Global Impact List unveiled by popular streaming platform Spotify for the first half of 2024.
Through their songs, these artistes were recognized by the streaming platform. Their songs, according to spotify, have the most listens from outside Nigeria between January 1 to June 30.
Ayra Starr secured the first and second spots with her songs Santa featuring Rauw Alejandro and hit single Commas. On the other hand, Tems took third spot with Love Me Jeje.
