Nigerian singer and songwriter Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, is set to headline Japan’s first-ever Afrobeats festival, Afro-Jam, in 2025.
The singer known for similar feats makes history again as the headlining act for Japan’s inaugural Afrobeats event at the 10,000-capacity Okinawa Arena.
He will headline Afrobeats' biggest festival alongside Jason Derulo and Shenseea, and other artistes will be announced later.
On Wednesday, December 11, 49th Street shared the news of Rema’s scheduled performance for the upcoming festival via an X (formerly Twitter) post.
“Rema is set to headline the FIRST EVER Afrobeats Festival, Afro Jam, in Japan next year,” It posted.
The groundbreaking feat captures Rema’s growth and prominence as an Afrobeats ambassador, especially across Asia.
The singer, known for his top hits like Calm Down and Ozeba, is gearing expectations for fans, who are looking forward to the event.
Rema’s three-day performance is scheduled to be held from July 18 to July 20, 2025.

Tems to become first female headliner at 2025 Afro Nation festival
Meanwhile, TheRadar reported that Grammy-winning Nigerian artiste Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, emerged as the first female African act who will headline the upcoming Afro Nation music festival in Portugal.
The famous annual three-day music festival will be held from July 9 to July 11, 2025. It also sees Nigerian superstar Burna Boy as one of the headliners of the upcoming event.
