This is to recognise the young superstars from music artistes to producers of the Nigerian music industry. Being under 25, they are not only taking Afrobeats to new heights but redefining how Nigerian creativity is perceived globally. 

From Ayra Starr, to Rema and Shallipopi, TheRadar curated its top 10 under 25 superstars making waves in Afrobeats music genres. 

10 under-25 Afrobeats music superstars you should know 

  • Rema — 24 

Rema's unique style blends Afrobeats, trap and pop to captivate audiences worldwide. Known for his global hit Calm Down, and his solidifying debut Raves & Roses, the young music superstar consistently proves his versatility in the Nigerian music scene. Rema possesses an energetic aura with his songs and is one of the most streamed African artistes globally. 

  • Seyi Vibez — 24 

Seyi Vibez hit the limelight with his single Chance (Na Ham) which gave him a global shot. Born Balogun Oluwaloseyi, the 24-year-old singer has another distinct voice that has carved his style of music. 

  • Shallipopi — 24 

Nigerian singer and rapper Crown Uzama is known for his breakthrough track Elon Musk and his debut Presido La Pluto. Shallipopi explores the Afrobeats, afropop and amapiano genres to create his unique style. 

  • Fave — 24 

Her voice in a crowd is distinguishable because of its distinctiveness. Fave combines this vocal prowess with her powerful storytelling abilities. Fave is known for her soulful melodies often blended with African rhythms. Some of her popular songs include Baby Riddim and Beautifully. She is one of the most sought-after talents in the Nigerian music industry. 

  • Victony — 23

Victony’s journey from personal tragedy to musical success is inspiring. His sonorous vocals and versatility earned him widespread recognition and a loyal fanbase. On his songs like Soweto and Holy Father, Victony reflects his style— a fusion of Afrobeats, R&B and trap. 

  • Ayra Starr —22 

Smallie Wey dey mighty,” the Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr knows her worth. Ayra Starr is an admirable powerhouse of talent, exploring Afro-pop with contemporary R&B influences. Known for her bold and relatable lyrics, the 22-year-old Grammy nominee continues to position herself as a voice for the youths, with songs like Away and Bloody Samaritan gaining global recognition. 

  • Taves — 21

The talented singer was discovered by BNXN formerly known as Buju. Taves holds on to the R&B music genre where he continues to prove his prowess as a young and versatile singer. 

  • Moravey — 20

Daniella Daniel, professionally known as Moravey, is best known for her appearance on Davido’s Timeless album on In The Garden track. The young singer was discovered by Davido which earned her a record deal with DMW label. 

  • Ayo Maff — 19

Ayo Maff featured Fireboy DML on his hit Dealer, which made it to the top 5 on Apple Music Nigeria. The 19-year-old also known as Prince of the Street, came into the limelight with his song Jama Jama. His unique lyrical depth and style sets him apart 

  • Qing Madi — 18 

Chimamanda Chukwuma known as Qing Madi gained widespread recognition with her 2022 single See Finish and Ole, which featured BNXN. The Delta State indigene is known for her blend of Afrobeats, Pop, R&B and Alte genres. Since 2022, she has been on the Afrobeats radar making exceptional milestones. 

Global Impact List: Ayra Starr, Tems emerge as Spotify’s most streamed artistes 

Earlier, TheRadar reported that Nigerian Afrobeats artistes, Tems and Ayra Starr emerged at the top of the Global Impact List unveiled by popular streaming platform Spotify for the first half of 2024. 

Through their songs, these artistes were recognized by the streaming platform. Their songs, according to spotify, have the most listens from outside Nigeria between January 1 to June 30. 

Ayra Starr secured the first and second spots with her songs Santa featuring Rauw Alejandro and hit single Commas. On the other hand, Tems took third spot with Love Me Jeje.
