Nigerian Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has emerged as the first female African act who will headline the upcoming Afro Nation music festival in Portugal.
The famous annual three-day music festival will be held from July 9th to July 11th 2025. It also sees Nigerian superstar Burna Boy as one of the headliners of the upcoming event.
Sharing the news via X (formerly Twitter), on Tuesday, September 24, 49th Street, announced that Tems would headline the show in 2025.
“Tems will headline the next edition of Afro Nation Portugal in July 2025. She will be the first female African act to headline the concert.” it wrote.
Afro Nation was founded in 2019 by Live Nation, SLE - Sociedade Lusa De Espectaculos and Event Horizon with the aim of bringing together the best African artistes across Afrobeats, Hip hop, RnB, Dancehall, Gqom, Amapiano and more.
The notable music festival was nominated in the Best Overseas Festival category at the 2019 UK Festival Awards. In 2020, It was also named The Gatekeepers of Nigerian Music Industry by Billboard Magazine.

Earlier, TheRadar reported that Nigerian singer and songwriter Tems alongside her colleague Spyro was featured on the official soundtrack list of the eFootball 2025 video game.
The game, eFootball is a series of association football simulation video games developed and published by Konami. The recognition featured Tems’ Me and U and Spyro’s Who Is Your Guy? on the soundtrack list of 2025 eFootball game.
