- Popular crossdresser Bobrisky has been intercepted for the second time while trying to escape Nigeria
- The EFCC recently arrested the crossdresser and transferred him to Abuja for interrogation
- Meanwhile, Bobrisky may risk further charges if evidence proves that he falsely accused the EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has transferred popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, to its Abuja office for interrogations regarding the ongoing bribery and corruption allegations.
In a voice call recording leaked by social media activist VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky alleged that he bribed EFCC officers with N15 million to drop the money laundering charges against him.
Prior to his recent arrest on Thursday, October 31, Bobrisky was said to have attempted to leave Nigeria for London via Muritala Muhammed Airport Lagos, where he was intercepted by the EFCC.
Meanwhile, at a recent press briefing, the agency's Director of Public Relations, Wilson Uwajaren, disclosed that Bobrisky might face new charges besides bribery and corruption, especially if his allegations are confirmed to be false.
“One could be charged for giving false information to the EFCC, let alone making false allegations against the commission,” he said.
EFCC source confirms Bobrisky’s arrest
According to an anonymous report disclosed to Punch Newspaper by a source in the commission on Friday, November 1, the crossdresser will be flown from Lagos to Abuja on Friday following his arrest at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Thursday night.
“We have arrested him in Lagos today, and will be flown to Abuja today. He accused us of bribery and corruption; we invited him several times, but he did not show up.
He who alleges must be ready to prove. Those allegations are too weighty to allow slide,” the source was quoted as saying.
“Also, remember that he has also refused to show up at the National Assembly on the matter. We are left with no other choice than to pick him up so that he can substantiate his claims. And that is what we have done,” the source added.
