Barely a week since the highly anticipated release of Everybody Loves Jenifa, the latest film by Nollywood actress and director Funke Akindele, it is already setting box office records.
The response has been overwhelming, with box office figures soaring to impressive heights, showcasing the movie's immense popularity and the audience's enthusiastic reception.
Via her official Instagram on Monday, December 16, Funke Akindele announced that her film Everybody Loves Jenifa had the biggest opening weekend in 2024, with a total of N206 million.
“Thank you Lord! Thank you Nigeria! Thank you!” the award-winning actress wrote to express her gratitude to Nigerians.
This adds to the other shattering box office records the highly anticipated film has set so far, according to a report by Box Office Nigeria and Filmone Cinema Distribution on December 14.

Everybody Loves Jenifa is a spin-off of Funke Akindele’s 28 series Jenifa franchise. The movie explores its lead character, Jenifa, navigating new challenges.
It also brings back characters from her 2008 debut and features other popular Nollywood faces like Jide Kosoko, Patience Ozokwor, Stan Nze, Nancy Isime, Falz and D’banj.
