Renowned Nollywood actress and director Funke Akindele has sent out a stern warning to potential pirates who might consider illegally distributing her highly anticipated new film, Everybody Loves Jenifa.

With her reputation on the line and a passionate dedication to her craft, Funke emphasised the serious consequences that could await anyone caught attempting to infringe upon her work.

In a video shared on her official Instagram page and reported by Channels on Thursday, December 12, Funke pleaded with her fans and supporters to shun piracy, which is killing Nollywood’s creative efforts.

According to the 47-year-old filmmaker, measures have been put in place to prevent anyone from pirating her highly anticipated film.
Hi, Don't be scared. I'm fine but if you go to see my new movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, and you bring out your phone or any device you have to film it, then I won't be fine. I know you have mad love for me as my fan.
“I know you respect me so much and I know you want to support me. I know you want to promote Everybody Loves Jenifa. You filming it is not you supporting me.
“Do not upload on your social media accounts, don't bring out your phones. If you want to support me, get to the cinemas, take pictures by the stands, post my trailers and teasers and I will be fine.
“The act of you filming it on the screen is piracy. Yes, we must not encourage piracy. We are taking serious security measures to arrest anyone that does that. I love my fans so much. Please, don't be caught doing it. It is affecting us and killing us,” Funke expressed.

Meanwhile, Funke has announced via her Instagram that Everybody Loves Jenifa is now showing across cinemas.
