The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS) platform has gone down for the second time in one month.

Before the latest incident, it was reportedly down on Thursday, June 6, which has frustrated many Nigerians who have been left with no choice but to wait until the system is back up.

NIBSS is an industry-owned corporation by all licensed banks in the country, including the CBN, that manages the payment infrastructure between Nigerian banks and when it goes down, no transfer can be completed as the entire national digital financial network depends on it.

Nigerians took to social media to complain about the regular shutdowns.

“Nibss don turn national grid. Na every 3 market days now. Sighsss,” Florz tweeted.

“Normally, they should employ cybersecurity analysts but they're waiting for Oluomo's children as it's their birthright,” @MYBinc commented on X.

“@myaccessbank money that was sent to me since yesterday 6th June, 2024 around 6pm hasn't dropped as at when am typing this 7th June, 2024 (10:51pm),” Ebuka Chukwu cried out on X.

“@UBACares @UBAGroup  Pls fix up It taking so long now I need my money,” Bubzy called out her bank to intervene.

“I actually deleted my @kudahelp_ng thinking it was their fault. But I still make transactions that haven't been reflected today. I sent from @kudahelp_ng to @OPay_NG I can't see the money yet," David expressed his action as a result of the shutdown.

“Wait if they fix it,will the money be reversed ...I really need a answer cus I dnt even know what's going on,” Mr Kunle asked on X. 

“This issue is being causing chaos in my house and business. I hope it's been resolved,” Kamikaze expressed his concern.

“The banks need to adopt other switching platforms so there is a seamless transition during downtimes like this.” Uchebuaku.Moshe-IIok," said on X.

“There's not one part of this zoo that functions as it should again. In all my years of doing inter bank transfers, prolonged downtime on NIBSS is usually once in a blue moon (twice a year or something like that). This year alone, this is the 3rd major downtime,” Scaramuci.obongo commented on X.

“ Ah swear, It's not funny at all,” Sakson also expressed on X.
