Dr. Deji Adeleke, a prominent businessman and the father of international music star Davido, has announced plans to construct the largest thermal power plant in Nigeria, set to launch in January 2025.

This ambitious project aims to significantly enhance the country’s electricity generation capacity.

Dr. Adeleke, who currently generates 15% of Nigeria’s electric power, emphasized the importance of investing in infrastructure to address the nation’s ongoing energy challenges.

“Our goal is to not only increase power supply but also to contribute to the sustainable development of Nigeria's energy sector,” He stated at the Seventh-day Adventist General Conference Annual Council in Maryland USA.

The new thermal power plant, which is expected to be a game-changer for the energy landscape in Nigeria, will create jobs and stimulate economic growth. Dr. Adeleke expressed confidence that the plant will provide reliable energy to support both households and industries, ultimately improving the quality of life for many Nigerians.

As the nation grapples with power shortages and fluctuating electricity supply, this initiative is seen as a vital step toward enhancing Nigeria's energy independence and sustainability. The project is expected to draw significant investments and partnerships, further bolstering the country's power infrastructure.

Dr. Adeleke’s commitment to Nigeria’s energy sector reflects a growing trend among private investors to seek solutions to the nation’s energy crisis, signaling a hopeful future for the country’s electricity generation capabilities.
