The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cautioned Nigerians against a fake recruitment website circulating online, warning that it is not connected to the Commission.

In a notice shared on its official X platform on Saturday, February 21, the electoral body distanced itself from the link titled “INEC Ad-hoc Staff Recruitment 2026,” describing it as fraudulent.

It stated: “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wishes to inform the general public that the website currently circulating as ‘INEC Ad-hoc Staff Recruitment 2026’ is fake, misleading, and not authorised by the Commission.”

INEC stressed that it neither created nor approved the link being widely shared.

It read, “The Commission did not approve or originate the following link: 🔗 https://tinyurl.com/INEC-Ad-hoc-Staff-Recruitment

The Commission also warned Nigerians against submitting personal details on the website, noting the risks involved.

“Members of the public are strongly advised not to submit personal information on the said website,” it further noted.

Reaffirming its standard communication procedures, INEC emphasised that any legitimate recruitment process would be announced only through its verified platforms.

It clearly stated, “All official recruitment information will be communicated exclusively through INEC’s verified website and official communication channels.”

The electoral body urged citizens to remain alert and ignore the fraudulent link making the rounds online.

INEC warned, “Please disregard the fraudulent link and remain vigilant.”

For further clarification or enquiries, the Commission asked members of the public to reach out through the following phone numbers: 09050858629, 09050858675, 09050858649.

The warning comes amid increased online activity ahead of future electoral preparations, as authorities heighten efforts to combat phishing attempts and impersonation schemes targeting job seekers and prospective ad-hoc staff.

INEC has consistently maintained that it does not conduct recruitment through unofficial links and has advised Nigerians to verify any information through its recognised platforms before responding to application calls.

Earlier in January, the Commission reiterated that, “INEC conducts Ad-hoc Staff recruitment ONLY through its official platform known as INECPRES.”
