Timileyin Ajayi, a 32-year-old man who was remanded in custody on charges of murdering his girlfriend, Salome Adaidu, a 24-year-old member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has expressed that he has no regrets committing the crime.
Ajayi admitted to killing Salome in an interview with Channels TV on Tuesday, January 14, stating that the crime was not premeditated but resulted from personal frustration over their inability to spend consistent time together.
Ajayi admits to killing girlfriend, expresses no regrets
When asked if he regretted his actions, Ajayi reportedly said, "No," which has sparked further outrage from the public.
“I killed her because we don’t have each other all the time, it’s not something I planned. It happened on that day and it happened. Not that I have the plan in mind, she was cheating. She hides most of the things from me most times. I got to know from her phone. I saw her chats with other guys on the phone, that was why I decided.
“I don’t have any regrets because life is reciprocal that is what I thought, if you must do something to someone, you have to be reciprocal with that person. You have to understand what that person is going through so that you can actually put yourself in the position that the person is going through, that is why I don’t have any regrets because we were actually compatible,” Ajayi stated.
However, the deceased's older sister, Patience Adaidu, firmly rejected the rumours claiming her sister had a romantic relationship with Ajayi.
She explained that the family had never known the suspect and was unaware of any relationship between him and her sister.
Ajayi was brought to the Nasarawa State Police Command headquarters from Karshi Development Area in Karu Local Government Area, where he was arrested for the alleged murder of Salome, who worked at Nicon Insurance in Abuja.

According to reports, the crime took place when Salome visited Ajayi's residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Nasarawa State.
The arrest occurred in Orozo, Abuja, during a Sunday service when churchgoers grew suspicious of a sack Ajayi was carrying, leading to an inspection.
The church members discovered the severed head of a woman, later identified as Salome Adaidu inside the sack.
Following the discovery, the congregation alerted others, and the crowd detained Ajayi before police arrived. He was later identified and questioned by authorities.

“Nigeria needs to bring back the kpai by firing squad penalty because of people like this, this is so sad and terrible,” Itohan stated.
“Bro chopped her up like cow in the market. Someone's sister, daughter, aunt. He doesn't even deserve us hearing his story sef, all the attention he's getting is making him feel like he's in some serial killer movie. Just lock him up in solitary and b•rn a new part of his body each time with hot phillips iron every morning and night till he goes over to the other side,” South Side Bandit reacted.
“This guy is an hardened, unremorseful and unrepentant criminal. A sociopath, sadist, lost and heart of stone, without any human feeling, inferring he has no feeling and doesn't give a damn about human life, including his own, with the way he's boldly talking,” Rotimi Adeosun added.
“He's working for a syndicate. He is putting a brave face to deflect attention from thorough investigations. If they press him, he will mention names,” Ahmed Adeyemi reacted.
“Justices for Salome! Justices for women! With the guy"s statement, he could be a serial killer. The case should be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted. Apaniya jatijati! Olorun lo ma se emi e na jatijati, jalajala. He covers the face with gospel songs to commit crime!” Sulaiman Kemmy stated.
“It's disheartening how many have been called home when they time hasn't come by being in relationship. It's better to be Rev father and Sister these days than entangle yourself in this relationship stuff again,” Tochukwu reacted.
