Reactions continue to pour in following a devastating mid-air collision that claimed the lives of all 67 people on board an American Airlines regional jet and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter.
Confirming the severity of the collision, President Donald Trump noted that there were no survivors from the crash which marked the deadliest aviation disaster in the US since 2001.
The crash occurred on the evening of Wednesday, January 29, as American Airlines Flight 5342 was on its final approach to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
The H-60 Black Hawk helicopter collided with the passenger jet just before 9 p.m. in one of the most tightly controlled airspaces in the world, approximately 4.8 kilometers (three miles) south of the White House and the Capitol.
Investigators have reportedly recovered the black boxes from the airliner, and analysis was underway to determine the cause of the crash.
Meanwhile, the names of some victims have begun to emerge as families and authorities work through the aftermath.
