Nigerians have reacted following the recent passage of a bill to create a new Oyo State while renaming the existing one to Ibadan State.

The bill successfully passed its second reading in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, October 22, and will now be sent to the Constitutional Review Committee for further examination.
This legislation, sponsored by Akeem Adeyemi, the son of the late Alafin Adeyemi, and a group of six lawmakers, outlined plans for Oyo Town to become the capital of the new state while maintaining Ibadan City as the capital of the newly designated Ibadan State.
