Nigerians have reacted following the recent passage of a bill to create a new Oyo State while renaming the existing one to Ibadan State.

House of Representatives advances bill to create new Oyo State

The bill successfully passed its second reading in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, October 22, and will now be sent to the Constitutional Review Committee for further examination.

This legislation, sponsored by Akeem Adeyemi, the son of the late Alafin Adeyemi, and a group of six lawmakers, outlined plans for Oyo Town to become the capital of the new state while maintaining Ibadan City as the capital of the newly designated Ibadan State.

“But why, I understand that Ibadan is the bigger city today, but OYO Empire was the ruler of most regions in South west before,”  Bolatito Agboola stated. 

“I really need them to explain.  Taking ibadan away from oyo will further divide it than it already has been,” Iamtunde20 reacted. 

“How does this reduce the suffering of the people,” Precious stated.

“Wetin concern them with u suffering,” Oyelomo stated. 

“He rested and came back to come and do more irrelevant priorities. If you voted for buhari and this man, e no ever better for you,” Senior Man added. 

“The present House 🏠 Representatives might be the worst in the recent times. How will the creation of new state solve the present fiscal problem? 🤔” Safety Cabal reacted. 

“They will now elect 3 more senators to the 109 and more HOR to the 360 we currently have. Each of those senators will be earning 14m monthly and they will be receiving at least 200m yearly. On top the small revenue wey we dey manage,” Perfect being reacted. 

“This is just hilarious 😂 Is this what we should be seating in round tables for? Everyday we go just dey confuse,” AdakoleOla stated. 

“I no even know for dis ppl. We dey hungry and u ppl no see anything to do abt it,” Taiwo1989 added. 

“Bills that will increase cost of governance are passed faster than bills that will reduce poverty,” Jo-b added.

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that a Prominent Nigerian pastor, Apostle Femi Lazarus, advocated against the establishment of an armed unit for the Federal Road Safety Corps.
