The Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has declared that securing the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 is his foremost political objective, saying the President's economic reforms have significantly benefited Delta State and other states across the country.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE News on Tuesday, June 2, Oborevwori said increased federal allocations resulting from the administration's economic policies have enabled his government to execute projects more efficiently and meet financial obligations without delays.

"I’m begging people to vote for President Bola Tinubu. It’s my number one project. That project is bigger than any other project because it will help us achieve more for our people," the governor stated.

Oborevwori explained that Delta State now enjoys improved financial stability, noting that contractors handling government projects are being paid promptly.

According to him, the state no longer depends heavily on monthly allocations before funding major projects.

He argued that the growing revenues available to state governments demonstrate that the Federal Government's reforms are delivering results.

"If the reforms are not working, will we get this money? More money is coming to the states. The reforms are working very well in Delta State, and that is why we are able to execute projects and meet our obligations," he said.

The governor also expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress would perform strongly in Delta State during the 2027 elections.

He attributed this optimism to the recent wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC, describing the movement as a "political tsunami."

According to him, the decision to join the ruling party was reached after extensive consultations involving political leaders, elected officials, stakeholders, religious leaders, and various interest groups across the state.

"We all agreed that we should move. That was why the movement was a tsunami. We moved en masse into the APC, and nobody was left behind," Oborevwori said.

He further maintained that the numerous projects being executed by his administration would strengthen public support for the APC ahead of the next general election.

"There are too many projects that we have done, and we are still doing. If I start commissioning projects every week, I may not finish before the election. The people can see what we are doing, and they know the difference," he added.

Addressing the resignation of former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege from the APC, Oborevwori dismissed concerns that the development could weaken the party's fortunes in Delta State.

The governor said Omo-Agege's departure had long been anticipated, noting that many of his supporters had already left the party months earlier.

"We saw it coming. Before he left, most of his people had already left over three months ago, so we were all aware," he said.

Oborevwori also downplayed suggestions that Omo-Agege's exit would affect the APC's strength in Delta Central Senatorial District, insisting that the party remains united behind Senator Ede Dafinone.

"He is not a threat because I have won it before," the governor stated.

He defended the APC primary election that produced Dafinone, describing the process as transparent and fair, while urging dissatisfied aspirants to accept the outcome.

"Somebody was given the opportunity, we conducted a free and fair primary, and he lost. It is for him to embrace the outcome because the process was transparent," Oborevwori said.

Looking ahead to the 2027 presidential election, the governor expressed confidence that President Tinubu would enjoy significant support in Delta State.

He cited political cooperation, ongoing development projects, and what he described as the President's longstanding connections to various ethnic groups in the state as factors that could strengthen his re-election prospects.

"The people of Delta State believe in President Bola Tinubu. They believe in him because, among all the candidates that may emerge, he is the only one with a strong affiliation to Delta State," he said.

APC North-West unveils strategy to secure Tinubu’s re-election in 2027

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that the North-West zone of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had announced a comprehensive strategy aimed at delivering a sweeping electoral victory for President Bola Tinubu and all party candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The party leaders deliberated on strategies to consolidate the region’s long-standing status as Nigeria’s highest vote-producing bloc in presidential elections since 1999. The North-West has historically played a decisive role in determining electoral outcomes, making it a focal point in early campaign planning.
