- Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God was criticised for saying Nigeria’s problems are spiritual
- He also said politicians and leaders are doing their best to solve the problems of the country
- Nigerians react, many berate him, saying he’s old and senile
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has come under fire on social media for saying Nigeria needs a spiritual solution to its problems.
In a video circulating on social media, Adeboye said Nigerian leaders are doing everything in their power to solve the problems of the country but according to him, Nigeria’s problems require divine intervention as the problems are more spiritual than political.
Pastor Adeboye made this known this during a visit to the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani.
In his words: “I am delighted to be here again. I was here about two years ago with the former governor. At that time, I came to pray for some of my members who were kidnapped and were miraculously rescued. I came to encourage their families to let them know that all will be well.
“...The problems our nation is facing is more than political. Our problems will require quite a bit of spiritual solution.
“We as a country are blessed. We are blessed with people with great intelligence. We are blessed with all manners of resources and yet we have so many problems.
“It is not as if people in authority are not trying their best. They are doing as much as humanly possible and then we found out that when you have problems that are beyond human ability to solve them, you call on the Almighty,” Adeboye added
Many Nigerians took to social media to express their opinion on the matter after the video went viral.
Netizens react to Adeboye’s speech
While reacting to the cleric’s comments, many Nigerians have hurled insults at him, calling him senile because of his old age. Some also asked the government to find out what spiritual solution developed countries employed to solve the problems of their countries. Others argued that Nigerian leaders are not actually doing their best as the cleric claimed.
