The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego, has endorsed Damilola Ayinde Marshal, daughter of Fuji music star Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, also known as KWAM 1, for the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The endorsement was made public through a short video shared on Damilola’s Snapchat account on Wednesday, where she was seen presenting branded campaign caps to the NURTW chairman during what appeared to be a political consultation meeting ahead of the All Progressives Congress primaries.

In the video, Sego appealed to party members and supporters in Surulere to support Damilola’s ambition to represent Surulere Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

“When it is primary election, please come out en masse and vote for Dami, Omo Anifowose. She is the only one who can do it. The progress of our Surulere is our collective responsibility. It is our time,” Sego said.

The endorsement adds to the growing political support surrounding Damilola’s recently declared ambition to contest the assembly seat under the APC platform.

The lawyer, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had earlier announced her intention to contest the seat through a post on Instagram.

In the announcement, she said she was prepared to serve the people of Surulere Constituency II and contribute meaningfully to legislative development in Lagos State.

“I am excited to share that I, Barrister Damilola Ayinde Marshal, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she wrote.

Damilola stated that her professional background and experience in governance had equipped her for public service and effective representation.

“I am a woman of excellence and results. I am ready to serve and lead. With my background, I am fully prepared and ready to fight for what truly matters. I promise to be the voice of the youths in the House,” she added.

She further described herself as part of a new generation of leaders focused on youth inclusion, development and responsive governance.

“As a young woman, I believe this is exactly what my people need right now, and that is why I decided to step forward,” she said.

If successful, Damilola is expected to replace the current lawmaker representing the constituency, Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara, who currently occupies the seat under the APC.

Political activities ahead of the 2027 elections have continued to intensify across Lagos State, with aspirants and party stakeholders engaging in consultations and endorsement campaigns ahead of party primaries.
