- Nigerian lady Oluwatobi Adams, also known as Sashatobz alleged that NAO supermarket staff harassed her due to her outfit
- The digital creator claimed this was not the first incident of harassment at the store
- Adams emphasised the need for accountability to stop harassment of females by NAO supermarket staff
Nigerian digital creator, Oluwatobi Uzoma Adams, also known as Sashatobz, has accused NAO supermarket in Ado-Ekiti of alleged sexual assault and physical intimidation.
On February 3, Adams posted a video of how she visited the store to purchase baby items, however, her outfit reportedly caught the attention of some staff members, who allegedly harassed her with derogatory comments.
In the video shared online, Adams showed some staff members fleeing as she began filming. She claimed this was not the first incident of harassment at the store.
One staff member, attempting to calm her down, removed his belt, which Adams perceived as a threat. However, he refrained from further action upon learning of her connection to US immigration.
Adams stated, "I was sexually harassed and intimidated... I went to the store for baby food, and from the entrance, they started acting weird, maybe thinking I was a sex worker due to my outfit."
She recounted the issues of harassment in her comment section stating; “I was standing there and next thing, they yelled kete kete, I was like ummm and next thing soro soke ikebe ikebe and bursted in laughter in the middle of store everyone stared at me! The embarrassment' now watch the video and see that man bulled belt on me…”
She initially wanted to let the incident go but changed her mind after speaking with the store attendant. "I wanted to let it go until I got to the counter and the attendant said that was how they act and that they grabbed a staff's butt days ago without remorse."
Adams emphasised that she was not angry for herself but for other women. "This is my country, I was born here, and things have to change here. So our daughters can find a safe place to live."
After being criticised for her outfit, Adams responded with another video, questioning what was wrong with her attire. "It does not matter what you wear, as long as you are chubby, they would insult you."
She further called for accountability to stop the harassment of females by NAO supermarket staff.
