- Netizens weigh in on Naira Marley and Sam Larry’s exoneration
A year and five months after the death of Nigerian artiste Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as Mohbad, a Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, has cleared Abdulazeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley and three others of involvement in the death of the singer.
Mohbad, who was formerly an artiste under Naira Marley’s Marlian record label, passed away under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023.
Following his death, Naira Marley, music promoter Samson Eletu also known as Sam Larry, childhood friend Owodunni ‘Primeboy’ Ibrahim, and former manager Opere Babatunde faced allegations of bullying and harassment related to his demise, leading to their arrests.
However, Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje stated that there was insufficient evidence to hold them accountable, basing the decision on legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The DPP announced that it will prosecute Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad, alongside Ayobami Sadiq, a friend of the late artiste, who were accused of reckless and negligent conduct contrary to Section 251 (e) of the Criminal Law, Ch C.17, Vol.3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
