Online bullying, also known as cyberbullying, has become a widespread issue worldwide, and Nigeria is no exception. There is a culture of online bullying mostly targeted at celebrities and public figures, as they are often dragged for their choices and decisions.
Recently, supporting a different candidate has brought a certain celebrity under fire. Toyin Abraham, a Nollywood actress, openly declared that she was in support of the current president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This has caused many netizens to drag and bully her, some even cursing her and her family. The actress retaliated by arresting a couple of them, which led to another bullying spree.
This time, netizens are calling her out for her actions and discrediting her work and talent. Some of them have also brought in another Nollywood actress and producer, Funke Akindele into the mix, praising her and comparing her work, reaction to online bullying and success with Toyin’s.
While some people dare her to make more arrests and release the people she arrested, others still show their support for Toyin Abraham.
