On Sunday, June 30, 2024, the rumour of the death of the 81-year-old veteran actor, Olu Jacobs, circulated on all social media platforms, in which people reacted with their condolences and best wishes for the family. This will be the third time in four years that this will be happening.
The family has reacted to this by dispelling the widely circulated rumours and affirmed that the veteran actor is alive.
Soji Jacobs, Olu Jacobs's son, confirmed that his father is “very much alive.” To corroborate his story, he shared a video of his father having his beard shaped while having a gentle conversation with the barber.
Mr Soji Jacobs, in the video, informed his father of the death rumours circulating on the internet and the veteran actor was shocked by the news. Olu Jacobs reacted to the news by saying:
“Na lie."
Also, he stated his displeasure with the incessant rumours of death that have been circulating about his father for some years now. He explained how they have gotten calls from various people many times to offer their condolences, a situation he described as annoying.
Olu Jacobs' health challenge
However, the rumours are a sequel to the health challenge of the veteran actor which was made official in November 2021. The wife revealed that Olu Jacobs has been diagnosed with Dementia Lewy Body (DLB), a degenerative disease that affects the brain.
In an interview, she stated: “It’s almost like Parkinson’s; it affects the brain, so you don’t see the shaking. It’s been hard on him and the family.”

For instance, in June 2020; a similar story was rumoured across social media platforms in which some family members and close friends of Olu Jacobs debunked it.
In August 2022, the death rumours resurfaced in which Joke Silva debunked and threatened to take legal action against those spreading the false information.
