Former Big Brother Naija housemate Hermes Iyele has announced the death of his mother, Isioma Iyele, who battled an undisclosed illness.
This announcement came a few days after Nollywood director Kunle Afolayan also announced the passing of his mother, Omoladun Afolayan.
Hermes, the BBN star, on Wednesday, November 6, shared photos of his mom and their video together as he announced her demise in a heartfelt caption.
The creative dancer pleaded for support both mentally and financially as he began his journey of grief to mourn his late mother.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I’d like to make public the passing of my beloved mum ISIOMA PHEBIAN IYELE on the 5th of November 2024. I’m doing this so I can properly start my grief and also because I currently lack the strength or capacity (mentally and finance-wise) to handle this situation. Please, pray for my siblings and I. Please, support us in all the ways you can." he wrote.
Hermes disclosed that he received the news of his mother’s death while in transit to a work trip, and he is trying to hold together to finish his mission there.
“I’m currently on a work trip and got the news in transit. I’m trying as much as I can to function in the regard of duty that has brought me here whilst trying to do my part of what needs to be done to see this tragedy through, so pls be patient with me as I won’t be able to respond to calls and texts for the time being. We will start the burial process as soon as I’m back." he added.
Meanwhile, popular fashion designer Toyin Lawani (Tiannah’s Place Empire) expressed her condolences to Hermes for the loss of his mother. She hailed and acknowledged his consistent efforts in taking care of his mother until death took her away.

Earlier, TheRadar reported that Nollywood’s veteran actor Francis Duru announced the death of his 15-year-old teenage son, Ifeanyi.
The circumstances that led to the death of the young boy were yet to be ascertained by the actor or his family as of the time of this report. Ifeanyi is said to be the actor’s second son.
