Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his emergence as the party’s consensus governorship candidate in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page on Tuesday, the lawmaker described the endorsement as a significant honour, pledging his commitment to party unity and the development of the state.
He specifically thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as visionary leadership and continued dedication to strengthening the ruling party and advancing national progress. Adeola said the president’s support was instrumental in shaping confidence within the party structure.
The senator also acknowledged the roles played by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and elder statesman Olusegun Osoba, noting that their guidance and backing contributed significantly to his emergence as the consensus candidate. He described their intervention as crucial in fostering unity among stakeholders.
“I am equally grateful to our leaders in Ogun State… for their guidance, support, and confidence in my capacity to serve,” he said, adding that he remained deeply humbled by the trust placed in him by the party leadership.
Adeola further extended appreciation to party stakeholders and members of the APC across Ogun State, stressing that their collective decision reflected confidence in his ability to lead the party into the next electoral cycle.
According to him, the endorsement is not a personal victory but a responsibility that demands commitment, discipline, and service. He pledged to lead a united campaign and ensure that the party remains cohesive ahead of the 2027 governorship poll.
“This honour is deeply humbling, and I do not take it for granted,” he stated, promising total loyalty to the party’s ideals and a focus on delivering development-oriented governance for the people of Ogun State.
The endorsement was reportedly reached during a strategic caucus meeting of the APC held in Abeokuta, the state capital. The meeting was presided over by the state chairman, Yemi Sanusi, and attended by prominent party figures, including former governors Ibikunle Amosun and Gbenga Daniel, alongside other senior stakeholders.
During the meeting, Governor Abiodun reportedly urged other aspirants to rally behind Adeola, emphasising the importance of unity and internal cohesion as the party prepares for the next general elections.
The decision effectively positions Adeola as the APC’s preferred candidate in Ogun State, setting the stage for early mobilisation and campaign planning ahead of 2027. Party leaders have described the move as a strategic step aimed at consolidating support and maintaining stability within the state chapter of the ruling party.
With the endorsement now formalised, attention is expected to shift towards building consensus across local party structures and strengthening grassroots engagement in preparation for what is anticipated to be a competitive electoral contest.
