The Oyo State All Progressives Congress Chairman, Barr. Isaac Omodewu, is reportedly dead.

Omodewu died in the early hours of Monday, August 19, at the age of 61 in the United States. The party publicity secretary in the state, Mr Wasiu Sadare, confirmed his exit through a message he circulated in the WhatsApp group of the party.

Omodewu, who hails from Itesiwaju local government area of the Oke-Ogun geopolitical zone of Oyo State, was elected as the APC chairman in 2021. He died about a year after undergoing treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

Until his death, he served as the Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters under the late former governor Abiola Ajimobi. He recently completed his law degree and law school.

Engr Idris Adeoye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has expressed deep sadness over the death of Hon. Isaac Ajiboye Omodewu.

In a condolence message, Engr. Adeoye described Omodewu’s death as a significant loss, saying, “A big tree has fallen.” 

He commiserates with the people of Oyo State, Okeogun Zone, and Itesiwaju Local Government, as well as Hon. Omodewu’s family, friends, and associates.

Hon. Omodewu, who served as Commissioner for Land and Housing under the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, was praised for his exceptional leadership and dedication to Oyo State’s development. 

“As the State Chairman of the APC, he worked tirelessly to deepen democracy in the state. His contributions to land administration, housing development, and democratic governance will be remembered and cherished.”

Engr Adeoye urged that Hon. Omodewu’s legacy continues to inspire the party as they strive to build a better future for Oyo State. He prayed for eternal rest for the deceased and comfort for those he left behind.

Customs Officer collapses, dies during House of Reps investigative session

Earlier, TheRadar reported that a senior officer of the Nigeria Customs Service present at the National Assembly on Tuesday, June 25, as a guest of the Public Account Committee of the House of Representatives has tragically passed away.

The officer was participating in an ongoing probe into the activities of revenue-generating agencies and government parastatals when the incident occurred. While fielding questions from committee members, the officer suddenly collapsed. Despite immediate efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead after being rushed to the National Assembly clinic.
