- Ogun State Government has reportedly asked job seekers to pay N10,000 for application form
- The application fee once paid is non-refundable
- Nigerians reacted furiously as they submitted that the government was extorting the masses
The Ogun State Government has been trending on social media for allegedly demanding job seekers to pay N10,000 for application form for employment into its civil service.
According to a report by Sahara Reporters, the directive was contained in a memo signed by the Permanent Secretary Commission, Jacobs R.O, on behalf of the Ogun State Civil Service Commission.
“The document noted that “Applicants are to obtain tellers from Room A261 at the Civil Service Commission for application form on payment of a non-refundable fee of ten thousand Naira (N10,000) per candidate”
“It was noted that “The Application forms and other credentials should be submitted to the office of the Director, Appointment and Transfer (Civil Service Commission) Block A, Room A233, State secretariat complex Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta” the document read.
“This is not the first time the state government will do so; in 2021, it was reported that the state government asked those seeking to become fire service officers in the state to pay N10,000 as application form fee.”
Nigerians react to 10k charge by Ogun Government

Some netizens compared the governor of the state with other governors in the South West who did not collect a dime for job applications in their state.
Many also expressed their anger at the insensitivity of the government and the alleged extortion of the unemployed masses.
