- James Faleke had collected APC nomination forms on behalf of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 election
- APC officials had formally presented the N100 million forms during a ceremony in Abuja
- INEC had released the 2027 election timetable, setting dates for primaries, campaigns and general elections
The lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke, has officially collected the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, marking a significant step towards the President’s expected bid for re-election in 2027.
The APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, announced the commencement of the process on Tuesday in Abuja, where he formally presented the nomination documents to Faleke. Faleke, who is also the founder of the Tinubu Support Groups, received the forms and completed the required payment valued at N100 million on behalf of the President.
This development effectively signals the beginning of President Tinubu’s campaign structure within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections, as party stakeholders begin early mobilisation and internal preparations.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Presidential and National Assembly elections have been scheduled for Saturday, January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are set for Saturday, February 6, 2027.
INEC also outlined the timetable for party activities, stating that party primaries, including the resolution of disputes arising from them, will take place between April 23, 2026, and May 30, 2026. Campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections are expected to commence on August 19, 2026, while campaigns for governorship and state assembly elections will begin on September 9, 2026.
Faleke’s role in securing the nomination forms underscores his longstanding political alignment with President Tinubu and his involvement in mobilising support structures within the APC. The early acquisition of the forms reflects the party’s strategic positioning ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive electoral cycle.
Political observers note that the formal commencement of nomination processes signals the intensification of political activities within major parties, as alliances, endorsements, and campaign structures begin to take shape well ahead of the official campaign period.
Further details are expected as the APC continues its internal processes leading up to the primaries and eventual confirmation of candidates for the 2027 general elections.
