- Emeka Ike condemned the alleged disclosure of his voter registration details by Lere Olayinka
- The actor described the incident as a violation of privacy and an abuse of access to sensitive information
- Ike disclosed that he was prepared to take action against Olayinka over the matter
Veteran Nollywood actor and politician, Emeka Ike, has vowed to take action against Lere Olayinka, a media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over the alleged exposure of his personal information obtained from the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The controversy erupted after Olayinka shared what appeared to be details of Ike’s voter registration record through an INEC administrative webpage on his X account.
Ike, who hails from Imo State, recently contested for the House of Representatives seat representing the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory under the Nigerian Democratic Congress but was unsuccessful in his bid.
In a post published on Saturday, Olayinka claimed that the actor was originally registered as a voter in Imo State before transferring his voter registration to the FCT on 15 May 2026.
“Emeka Ike was a registered voter in Imo State. He only transferred his INEC Registration to the FCT on May 15, 2026 (15 days ago),” Olayinka wrote.
He further questioned Ike’s eligibility to seek election in Abuja, suggesting that the actor had not previously voted in the FCT. The post was accompanied by screenshots that many social media users alleged were sourced from an INEC administrative portal.
The screenshots reportedly contained sensitive personal information, including Ike’s application number, voter identification number, registration centre, profile photograph, name and date of registration transfer.
Reacting during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, Ike strongly condemned Olayinka’s actions, describing them as an abuse of access and a violation of privacy.

“It’s quite shocking, extreme, and it is the height of political rascality for a government officer to access a citizen’s information from the INEC cyber,” Ike said.

According to him, the incident raises serious concerns about data protection, privacy and the security of information held by public institutions.
The actor argued that such conduct sends a dangerous message to Nigerians, suggesting that personal information could be accessed and publicly shared without authorisation.
“He is telling every Nigerian that whoever you are, I can pull your information from anywhere and I can do what I want, and that rascality needs to be stopped,” he added.
Ike also disclosed that he was prepared to challenge Olayinka over the matter, insisting that the alleged exposure of his personal data was unacceptable.
“Actions are ready, I’m ready to take him on. He has no right to exploit my privacy and insult Nigerians the way he did. If he has been doing it in the past, this should be the last time he does it,” the actor stated.
