As the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State approaches, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced plans to depart from the traditional jamboree-style campaigns, pledging a more structured and intensive drive to secure victory.

APC State Chairman, Sola Elesin, disclosed that the party would soon inaugurate its campaign council across local government areas, signalling the start of a comprehensive mobilisation effort. The statement was made available in Ado Ekiti on Thursday by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, under the title ‘What Ekiti APC EXCO saw during statewide tour’.

Elesin explained that the campaign would focus on “intra-unit, intra-ward, and intra-local government engagements, deviating from the usual jamboree-style campaigns,” while setting an ambitious target of winning at least 95 per cent of votes across the state.

“We are extending an olive branch to party members still on the fence, inviting them to seize this opportunity to join the winning team. As the party campaigns across the state, there is still time to get on board and contribute to the sure-bet success,” Elesin said.

He described the momentum for the party as strong, declaring, “The writing is on the wall: Ekiti APC is ready for a historic victory, and Governor Kayode Oyebanji is poised for a landslide re-election.”

Elesin further emphasised the need for public sensitisation and membership canvassing, urging party members to educate citizens on Oyebanji’s achievements and the APC’s vision for the state. “We also need to recruit more members to join our bandwagon and contribute to the party’s success,” he added.

Speaking on findings from the statewide tour, APC State Secretary, Garba Arogundade, noted overwhelming support for the incumbent governor at the grassroots level. “The message from the grassroots is clear – Governor Oyebanji remains the man for the job. We were greeted with enthusiasm and appreciation wherever we went. The people of Ekiti State are happy with Oyebanji’s governance and they are eager to reward him with a second term,” he said.

The party also urged members to obtain their National Identification Numbers (NINs) and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to ensure full participation in the upcoming election, reinforcing its commitment to a fully mobilised and strategic campaign.
