The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Reacting via a post on X on Sunday, May 3, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described Obi as inconsistent in his political affiliations, accusing him of moving across parties in pursuit of an effortless path to the presidency.

“Peter Obi, a political rolling stone that gathers no moss… roaming again in search of free, uncontested, unchallenged presidential ticket… never willing to remain to build any party,” he wrote.

Morka further claimed that Obi avoids competitive internal party processes.

“He fantasises to be president on a ticket delivered only on a platter of gold… APGA – PDP – LP – ADC on to NDC,” Morka added.

He concluded with a parting jab, branding the former Anambra State governor as unreliable in his political journey.

“Fare thee well, Nigeria’s inconsolable political drifter,” he said.

Obi had earlier announced his exit from the ADC, citing persistent internal crises and what he described as a toxic political climate within the party.

In a statement released on Sunday, May 3, Obi explained that his decision came after careful consideration of the party’s ongoing divisions, which he said have hindered its ability to focus on national development.

He clarified that his departure was not driven by personal conflict with key figures such as former Senate President David Mark or former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, both of whom he said he still holds in high regard.

Obi also dismissed claims of political desperation, maintaining that his ambition is rooted in improving the lives of Nigerians rather than personal gain.

He reaffirmed his optimism about Nigeria’s future, expressing confidence that competent and compassionate leadership can still emerge to transform the country.

Nigeria in “full-blown crisis”: Atiku moves to engage US stakeholders

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar confirmed plans to travel to the United States, where he intends to spotlight Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, economic struggles, and declining governance standards on the global stage.

During the visit, Atiku is expected to engage with key policy and institutional stakeholders, drawing attention to what he described as a growing national crisis.

The former vice president warned that Nigeria is currently facing a “full-blown internal crisis” that should no longer be ignored or politicised.
