Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has recently broken yet another record on the popular streaming platform Apple Music Nigeria.
With his 2020 and fourth studio album, Made in Lagos, Wizkid became the first-ever Nigerian artiste to have his album project chart on Apple Music's Top 10 for five consecutive years.
Via an X (formerly Twitter) post on Wednesday, September 18, 49th Street tweeted the feat of Nigeria’s popular singer and the years the album charted on Apple Music Top 10.
“Wizkid’s “Made In Lagos” is the FIRST EVER album to chart in the Top 10 of Apple Music NG for 5 years. 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Evergreen,” it captioned.
Following the recent announcement, netizens took to the comment section to share their mixed feelings on the new record by Wizkid’s ‘Made in Lagos’ album. Many hailed the album as a classic representing the global status of the legendary singer, Wizkid. For some, the news was set the pace as they continue to look forward to Wizkid’s upcoming album, ‘Morayo.’
Meanwhile, Wizkid’s Made in Lagos, released on October 30, 2020, has received critical acclaim, commercial success and recognition before now. It was featured on the number-one spot on the Billboard World Album Chart in 2020. The track, ‘Essence’ featuring Tems, off the album became the first Nigerian song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
